The Ring — Logistics to Consider
The practical challenge of the ring is real. You cannot carry a valuable ring through airport security and then leave it in a tent while you are on game drive. We recommend bringing the ring in your carry-on, keeping it on your person throughout the trip, and either keeping it in a neck pouch or a locked room when you are not carrying it. Our camp partners have secure safes in guest tents. Some guests give the ring to us in a sealed envelope before the trip and we deliver it to the guide on the day — this requires enormous trust and we treat it with complete seriousness.
If you are purchasing a ring locally, Tanzania has no significant jewellery infrastructure in safari areas. We do not recommend this path. Bring your ring from home.

For ring shopping, we recommend bringing the ring with you — there are no jewellery stores at altitude in the Serengeti. Is a safari proposal safe? What if something goes wrong?
