Your Journey

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Zanzibar — Stone Town

Fly from Arusha or Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. Your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to a boutique hotel in the heart of Stone Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afternoon walking tour through narrow alleyways lined with carved wooden doors, past the old slave market, the Sultan's Palace, and the spice bazaar. Dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Stay: Emerson Spice Hotel or similarMeals: Dinner
Day 2

Spice Tour and Transfer to Beach

Morning spice plantation tour — smell, taste, and touch cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, and lemongrass straight from the source. Zanzibar was once the world's largest clove producer and the spice trade shaped every corner of this island. After lunch, transfer to the east coast beaches — powdery white sand, turquoise water, and swaying palm trees.

Day 3

Beach Day — Snorkeling at Mnemba Atoll

Morning boat trip to Mnemba Atoll — a marine conservation area with some of the best snorkeling in East Africa. Swim with sea turtles, dolphins, and schools of tropical fish over pristine coral gardens. Afternoon at leisure on the beach — read, swim, nap, or arrange a Swahili cooking class. Sunset dhow cruise along the coast.

What Guests Say About Zanzibar

After seven days on safari, Zanzibar was the perfect reset. Swimming with sea turtles at Mnemba, wandering Stone Town at sunset, eating the freshest seafood of my life — I didn't want to leave.

The spice tour blew us away — we had no idea cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon all grow on this one island. And the beaches are unreal. Our guide arranged a private dhow cruise that was the highlight of our honeymoon.

Common Questions

Zanzibar Escape FAQ

Is Zanzibar safe for tourists?
Yes. Zanzibar is one of the safest destinations in East Africa. Stone Town is busy and vibrant — normal city awareness applies. The beach resorts are peaceful and secure. We use trusted local guides who know the island thoroughly.
Can I combine this with a mainland safari?
Absolutely — that's the most popular way to book it. Add this Zanzibar Escape to any of our safari itineraries. The flight from the Serengeti to Zanzibar takes about 2 hours. We handle all the logistics.
What's the best time to visit Zanzibar?
Zanzibar is warm year-round (27-32 degrees C). The driest months are June to October and December to February. The heavy rains fall in April and May — we typically advise against those months. Swimming and snorkeling are excellent from June through March.
Can I extend my Zanzibar stay?
Yes. Many guests extend to 5-7 days, adding activities like scuba diving, kitesurfing, a Jozani Forest visit to see red colobus monkeys, or a Prison Island day trip. We'll customize the itinerary to your interests.
Is snorkeling experience required for Mnemba Atoll?
No. The waters around Mnemba are calm and shallow enough for beginners. Life jackets and guides are provided. If you prefer not to snorkel, you can stay on the boat and enjoy dolphin watching instead.
Peak season groups fill 6–8 weeks ahead — availability is limited
