Summit Africa, Then Celebrate on the Serengeti
Two weeks, two once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Climb Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route — the quietest, most scenic path to the Roof of Africa — then recover on a private safari through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. From glaciers at 5,895 meters to lion prides on the plains below, this is Tanzania at its most complete.

Your Journey
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrive in Arusha
Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Drive to your hotel in Arusha for gear check, climb briefing, and a welcome dinner. We'll confirm your equipment list and answer every question about the mountain ahead.
Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m)
Drive to Lemosho Gate on Kilimanjaro's western flank. Trek through pristine montane rainforest alive with Colobus monkeys and tropical birds. The Lemosho Route is the least crowded approach, offering solitude and lush scenery from the first step.
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 2 Camp (3,840m)
Emerge from the rainforest into the heath and moorland zone. Cross the Shira Plateau — a vast alpine landscape with views of the Western Breach and Kibo peak. Arrive at Shira 2 Camp with panoramic sunset views across the plateau.
Shira 2 to Barranco Camp (3,960m) via Lava Tower
Critical acclimatization day. Climb to Lava Tower at 4,630m — your first taste of high altitude — then descend to Barranco Camp. This 'climb high, sleep low' strategy is the key to Lemosho's superior summit success rate. The Barranco Valley rewards you with towering groundsel plants and dramatic wall views.
Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp (3,995m)
Scramble up the famous Barranco Wall — the most exhilarating section of the climb. Hands-on rock scrambling with your guides right beside you. Cross several alpine valleys to reach Karanga Camp, your final water collection point before the summit push.
Karanga to Barafu Base Camp (4,673m)
A shorter day to conserve energy for summit night. Trek across the alpine desert to Barafu Base Camp. Rest, eat, and hydrate all afternoon. Your guide briefs you on the summit attempt — gear, pacing, and what to expect in the dark.
Summit Night — Uhuru Peak (5,895m)
Wake at midnight. Headlamps on. Begin the slow, steady ascent through the scree and glaciers to Stella Point on the crater rim. Watch the sunrise illuminate all of Africa below you. Push on to Uhuru Peak — 5,895m, the Roof of Africa. Celebrate, photograph, then descend to Millennium Camp for the night.
Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate — Summit Certificate
Final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Collect your official summit certificate, tip your mountain crew, and drive back to Arusha. Hot shower, real bed, and a celebratory dinner — you've just summited Africa.
Rest Day in Arusha
A well-earned rest day. Sleep in, stretch sore muscles, and explore Arusha at your own pace. Optional visit to the local market or a coffee farm tour. Tomorrow your safari begins — a completely different adventure awaits.
Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater
Trade hiking boots for a Land Cruiser. Drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater — 25,000 animals in a natural amphitheater. After a week on the mountain, watching lions, elephants, and rhinos from the comfort of your vehicle feels like a gift.
Serengeti National Park
Two full days in the Serengeti — the ultimate reward after your summit. Track lion prides across the endless plains, watch cheetahs hunt at dawn, and find leopards draped in acacia branches. During migration season, witness millions of wildebeest on the move. Sundowners overlooking the plains each evening.
Serengeti — Final Game Drive
A last, unhurried morning in the Serengeti. Sunrise drive to catch the predators one more time. Visit a kopje where lions survey the plains below. Afternoon at leisure in camp — reflect on two weeks that took you from the Roof of Africa to its greatest wildlife stage.
Serengeti to Arusha — Departure
Morning bush flight from the Serengeti back to Arusha. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. Or extend to Zanzibar for a well-deserved beach finale.

What Guests Say About This Trip
“Standing on Uhuru Peak at sunrise was the hardest and best thing I've ever done. Three days later, watching a leopard hunt from our Land Cruiser felt surreal — like two different lifetimes in one trip.”
Marcus L.

“The Lemosho Route was stunning — so quiet compared to Machame. Our mountain guide was incredible, checking our oxygen levels twice daily. Then the Serengeti safari felt like a victory lap. Perfect combination.”
