The Great Migration is the largest movement of land animals on Earth. Two million wildebeest, half a million zebra, and the predators that follow them circle the Serengeti in an endless loop of birth, death, and renewal. This 10-day safari puts you at the heart of it — from river crossings to calving plains, with a guide who has tracked these herds for decades.

Common Questions

Great Migration Safari FAQ

When is the best time to see the river crossings?
River crossings at the Mara River typically happen between July and October. The exact timing varies each year depending on rainfall. We monitor the herds constantly and position our mobile camps where the action is. If crossings are not active during your visit, the northern Serengeti still offers exceptional predator sightings.
What about the calving season?
Calving season runs from late January through March on the southern Serengeti plains. Over 8,000 calves are born every day during the peak. Predators gather in extraordinary numbers. We adjust this itinerary to focus on the southern plains during calving season.
Can I customize the number of days?
Absolutely. We can extend to 12 or 14 days for deeper immersion, or trim to 8 days if your schedule is tight. Every itinerary is built around your dates and interests — free, no obligation.
How physically demanding is this safari?
Not demanding at all. You travel in a comfortable Land Cruiser with plenty of stops. Game drives are at your pace. The only walking is around your lodge or camp. This safari suits all ages and fitness levels.
What is the difference between lodge and mobile camp?
Lodges are permanent buildings with full amenities. Mobile camps follow the migration — they are luxury tents with real beds, hot showers, and gourmet meals, set up where the herds are moving. Both are comfortable. Mobile camps put you closer to the action.
Can I add Zanzibar after this safari?
Yes, this is one of our most popular extensions. We add 3-5 days on Zanzibar with a direct flight from the Serengeti. White sand beaches, Stone Town history, and spice tours make the perfect contrast to safari.
