Safari & Zanzibar —
Tanzania's Bush-to-Beach Combination

The Serengeti. Ngorongoro Crater. Then the white-sand shallows of the Indian Ocean. Two landscapes. One seamless journey. One booking.

Why Safari & Zanzibar

Two Iconic Tanzania Experiences — One Journey

Two Landscapes. One Trip.

There's something profound about moving from the golden-grass intensity of the Serengeti to the turquoise shallows of the Indian Ocean. The contrast is not just visual — it's atmospheric. The slow rhythm of Zanzibar is the perfect decompression after dawn game drives.

Logistics Handled. You Just Travel.

We co-ordinate the domestic flight from the Serengeti to Zanzibar, all ground transfers, park fee payments, and hotel reservations under a single itinerary. No separate booking platforms, no agency markup layers, no translation gaps.

Price Advantage Over Booking Separately

A Safari & Zanzibar package booked as one trip costs less than booking safari and beach components separately. Our direct-operator model means no broker margins, no OTA commissions, and full transparency from the first conversation.

Competitors Can't Offer This

The largest Tanzania operators own and operate camps — but they have no Zanzibar product. This is our clearest competitive advantage: we invented the Safari & Zanzibar combination and have been running it for 48 years.

Your 10-Day Safari & Zanzibar Itinerary

Day1

Arrive in Arusha

Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. A short drive brings you to your lodge on the slopes of Mt. Meru, where you'll get your first orientation over dinner. This evening briefing sets the tone — we adjust every detail to your interests.

Overnight: Arusha Coffee Lodge or similarMeals: Dinner
Day2

Ngorongoro Crater

Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater — the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and one of the densest wildlife habitats on Earth. In a single morning, you're likely to see lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos on the lake floor, and the rare black rhino. This is Tanzania in miniature.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater lodgeMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day3

Central Serengeti

Enter the Serengeti through the eastern highlands and descend onto the endless plains. Your first afternoon game drive in the central corridor puts you in prime Big Five territory. Lions are everywhere; leopards rest in acacia fig trees; cheetah scan the horizon from any small rise.

Overnight: Serengeti central camp or lodgeMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day4

Western Serengeti — Migration Corridor

The western corridor follows the Grumeti River — one of the migration's key crossing points from May to July. Even outside migration season, this area is exceptional for hippo pools, crocodile basking on sandbanks, and the lion prides that follow the wildebeest herds.

Overnight: Western Serengeti camp or lodgeMeals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day5

Final Morning Game Drive → Fly to Zanzibar

An early morning game drive catches the Serengeti at its most alive — predators active in the cool dawn air, plains lit gold. After breakfast, we transfer you to the Serengeti airstrip for your included flight to Zanzibar. A representative meets you at Zanzibar Airport and drives you to your beach hotel.

Overnight: Zanzibar beach hotelMeals: Breakfast, Dinner
Days6–10🏖

Zanzibar Beach — Your Choice of Paradise

Five days to decompress on Zanzibar's white-sand beaches. We match you with the right beach based on your priorities — Paje or Jambiani on the east coast for the finest sand and kite-surfing conditions; Nungwi in the north for snorkelling and no tidal variation; Matemwe for seclusion and world-class diving. All beach accommodation is arranged as part of your package — from boutique guesthouses to five-star resorts, your budget, your choice.

Included: All ground transfers, Zanzibar accommodation, daily breakfast

Common Questions

Safari & Zanzibar — Frequently Asked

How many days do I need for a Safari & Zanzibar trip?
A minimum of 9–10 days gives you 5–6 days of safari and 3–4 days on Zanzibar — a comfortable balance. Shorter trips of 7–8 days can work with a focused 3–4 day safari and 2–3 beach days, though you'll feel the pace more. We don't recommend fewer than 7 days total for a meaningful bush-and-beach combination.
Is it safe to combine safari and Zanzibar in one trip?
Yes — and it's one of the most natural pairings in East Africa. Tanzania's Northern Circuit parks (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire) are all within a 4–6 hour drive of Arusha, and the flight from the Serengeti airstrip to Zanzibar takes about 2 hours with a brief connection. We handle all the logistics in a single booking.
What's the best time of year for Safari & Zanzibar?
June to October gives you the dry season for safari (the best wildlife viewing) and calm, sunny weather in Zanzibar. January to March is also excellent — the Serengeti has calving season and Zanzibar has fine weather. We avoid April and May when heavy rains affect both safari roads and Zanzibar beach conditions.
How much does a Safari & Zanzibar trip cost?
Our 10-day Safari & Zanzibar package starts from $5,800 per person, based on two people sharing. This includes all safari logistics, park fees, accommodation, meals, a private guide and vehicle, and the bush flight to Zanzibar. Beach accommodation ranges from boutique guesthouses to five-star resorts — your budget, your choice.
Do I need separate visas for Tanzania and Zanzibar?
A single Tanzania tourist visa ($50–$100, depending on nationality) covers both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. It's a quick on-arrival process at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Your Magical Tanzania representative will walk you through everything on arrival.
Can I extend the Zanzibar portion?
Absolutely. Many travellers add 3–5 extra nights in Zanzibar after their safari. The beach is a natural decompression zone after the early wake-up calls of safari life. We can arrange everything from a simple beach bungalow to a five-star resort.
Peak season groups fill 6–8 weeks ahead — availability is limited
