Kili + Safari Combo

Kilimanjaro + Safari Combo

From the roof of Africa to the floor of the Serengeti — one seamless trip, one operator

Two Iconic Experiences

Safari and Kilimanjaro Climb, Sequenced Properly

Few journeys on earth match the arc of a Kilimanjaro climb followed by a Tanzania safari. You spend a week pushing through altitude and weather to stand on the roof of Africa at 5,895 metres. Then you descend into the acacia-studded plains of the Serengeti, where the largest concentration of large mammals on the planet moves in its ancient, endless patterns.

These are not separate trips. They are two acts of the same story — and Tanzania is the only place in Africa where you can genuinely do both in one well-sequenced itinerary. We have been running this combination since 1978.

This is the Magical Tanzania hub for the combined safari and Kilimanjaro climb: transparent pricing from $4,500 per person, a private planning team in Arusha, and route depth from Mount Kilimanjaro Climb plus detailed combo planning on Safari Kilimanjaro.

Booking both with a single operator saves 10–15% compared to booking separately — and eliminates the stress of coordinating between mountain and safari companies.

How the Trip Flows

The Sequence Matters

We always climb first and safari second. Here is how a typical combo itinerary unfolds.

Days 1–7

Kilimanjaro Climb

Machame or Lemosho Route. Summit at dawn on day 6 or 7, then descend to Arusha. Professional guide, full crew, all camping equipment, and all meals included.

Day 8

Rest in Arusha

Recovery day. Hot shower, full breakfast, and briefing for the safari. Your guide visits you for a relaxed orientation session. No pressure, no schedule — just rest.

Days 9–12

Northern Circuit Safari

Private 4x4 vehicle, dedicated driver-guide. Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire. Game drives at your pace, not a convoy schedule.

Why Book With Us

The Difference Is in the Details

👤

One Operator, One Contact

From the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport to your final departure, everything is managed by our team. No hand-offs between mountain and safari operators, no finger-pointing if logistics slip. One company, one relationship.

🏔️

Proper Sequence

We always sequence the trip correctly: climb first, safari second. Summit night on Kilimanjaro is genuinely exhausting. The safari after the climb — comfortable vehicle, wildlife viewing, warm lowland air — feels like the reward rather than another test.

🌙

Built-In Recovery

Every itinerary includes at least one full night in Arusha between the mountain descent and the safari start. Hot shower, proper meal, unhurried sleep. This is not optional — it is the bridge between the two experiences.

💰

Transparent Pricing

Our combo packages include everything: park fees, guide fees, accommodation, meals, and transfers. No surprise costs at the gate, no add-ons for rescue fees or tip pools. The price we quote is the price we honour.

Real Guides, Real Experience

Our mountain guides are Tanzanian, experienced on Kilimanjaro specifically, and trained in altitude medicine. Our safari guides are the same — specialists in Tanzania's wildlife, not drivers who also do the mountain. Each skill is practised by people who focus on it.

🏆

48 Years of Operations

We have been running climbs and safaris since 1978. We know the mountain, we know the safari circuit, and we know how to sequence them safely and enjoyably. This is not a new product for us — it is our core offering refined over decades.

Common Questions

Kili + Safari Combo FAQ

Is it safe to climb Kilimanjaro and then do a safari?
Yes — with proper sequencing and built-in recovery time. Summit night on Kilimanjaro is genuinely exhausting, but the descent brings you to lower altitudes quickly, and a night in Arusha (at 1,400m) allows your body to recover before safari altitude (1,100–2,400m). All of our combo itineraries build in this recovery day as a non-negotiable part of the trip, not an optional extra.
Should I do the safari first or the climb first?
Always climb first, safari second. The summit attempt requires peak fitness, mental clarity, and full acclimatisation — all of which are compromised if you arrive fatigued from days of game drives. The safari after Kilimanjaro feels like a reward: comfortable, unhurried, vivid. Doing the safari first and then attempting the summit with accumulated fatigue is the wrong sequence.
What if I don't summit — can I still do the safari?
Absolutely. Not summitting happens to approximately 5–10% of climbers, usually due to altitude sickness rather than fitness. If you turn back before the summit — at 4,000m, 5,000m, or wherever your personal limit is reached — you still descend to Arusha, rest, and proceed to the safari. Some of our most memorable client stories come from people who did not summit but had extraordinary experiences on both the mountain and the safari.
Which Kilimanjaro route is best for combining with a safari?
The Machame Route (7 days) and Lemosho Route (7–8 days) are the best for combo itineraries. Both have excellent acclimatisation profiles and high summit success rates. The Lemosho Route is slightly quieter and slightly more scenic — we recommend the 8-day Lemosho for combo trips because the extra acclimatisation day makes a meaningful difference to how you feel on summit night.
How fit do I need to be for the Kili + safari combo?
For the safari piece: no special fitness required — game drives involve sitting in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle. For the Kilimanjaro piece: you should be able to hike 5–8 hours per day at altitude with a daypack. Regular cardio training (hiking, running, cycling) 6–8 weeks before your trip makes a significant difference to both your summit success and your enjoyment of the experience.
How much does a Kilimanjaro + safari combo cost?
Our combo packages start from $4,500 per person for the 10-day Kili Summit + Northern Circuit. This includes all park fees, guide fees, accommodation, meals during the climb and safari, and all transfers. Booking both together with a single operator typically saves 10–15% compared to booking the climb and safari separately with different operators.
