Give Something Extraordinary

The Tanzania Safari Gift Guide

The most memorable gift you will ever give. How to gift a Tanzania safari, what to expect at every level, and how to make it truly extraordinary.

Why a safari?

Because nothing else comes close

Birthday. Anniversary. Honeymoon. Retirement. Achievement. There are moments in a life that deserve more than a conventional gift. They deserve a continent.

A Tanzania safari is not a holiday. It is an encounter with something genuinely extraordinary — the Serengeti at dawn, a lion pride on the move, the Ngorongoro Crater from its rim. The person who receives this gift will remember it for the rest of their life. There are not many gifts you can say that about.

A 7–10 day Northern Circuit safari. The classic route: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire. Intimate, varied, and deeply romantic.

Starting from

From $3,500 per person for a couples safari

💍

Honeymoon Safari

After the wedding, the honeymoon should be the most significant travel experience of your life together. Tanzania offers what no other destination can: the raw drama of the African wilderness alongside genuine luxury.

Best for

Newlyweds seeking a trip that feels as extraordinary as the commitment they have just made. Also perfect for delayed honeymoons.

Suggested itinerary

A 10–14 day itinerary combining a luxury Northern Circuit with Zanzibar beach extension. The contrast between the safari intensity and the Zanzibar calm is the perfect honeymoon rhythm.

Starting from

From $5,000 per person for a luxury honeymoon package

🎂

Milestone Birthday Safari

A 40th, 50th, or 60th birthday deserves more than a dinner party. It deserves a continent. Tanzania is the kind of place people have been dreaming of visiting their whole life — giving it as a birthday gift is unforgettable.

Best for

Anyone who has mentioned wanting to go to Africa, has a love of nature or wildlife, or deserves a once-in-a-lifetime experience to mark a significant birthday.

From $2,800 per person — tailored to the trip

🌅

Retirement Safari

The Safari retirement trip is a genuine tradition — and for good reason. After decades of work, there is no better reward than the freedom of the African bush. It is a trip that earns its place at the end of a career.

Best for

New retirees with time, health, and a sense of adventure. Tanzania accommodates all fitness levels with the right itinerary design.

Suggested itinerary

A 12–14 day slow-paced Northern Circuit with luxury accommodations. Time to linger at sightings, long lunches in the bush, and genuine rest between parks.

Starting from

From $4,200 per person for a luxury slow-paced itinerary

🏆

Achievement Reward Safari

A promotion, a completed marathon, a PhD, a business milestone — some achievements deserve more than a certificate. They deserve Kilimanjaro or the Serengeti.

Best for

High-achieving people who have worked extraordinarily hard and deserve to celebrate accordingly. Also works as a corporate reward for exceptional performance.

Suggested itinerary

A Kilimanjaro climb + safari combo for the person who wants to earn their wildlife experience. Or a private, bespoke safari for someone who prefers comfort with their adventure.

Starting from

From $3,800 per person for a 10-day climb + safari combo

The process

How to give a safari gift

1

Book a discovery call

Contact us — discreetly if it is a surprise. Tell us about the recipient: their interests, fitness level, travel style, and what you want the trip to feel like. We listen carefully before we design anything.

You can also fill out our contact form and we will respond within 24 hours with initial thoughts.

2

We design the proposal

Based on what you tell us, we create a tailored itinerary proposal with pricing. For surprise gifts, we can create a 'dummy' proposal to present at the gift moment.

The proposal includes day-by-day itinerary, accommodation details, what is included, and what to expect. You review and we refine until it is right.

3

Confirm and pay

Once the itinerary is confirmed, we take a 40% deposit to hold the booking. The balance is due 60 days before departure. We handle all the logistics from that point.

For surprise gifts, we can manage all communication via the gift-giver until the trip is confirmed, then handle all pre-departure correspondence with the recipient directly.

4

We prepare your travellers

Six weeks before departure, we send a comprehensive briefing pack: packing list, health advice, visa guidance, reading list, and what to expect day by day. We are available for questions at any point.

For first-time safari-goers, we provide a thorough introduction to the experience. Nobody arrives unprepared.

Questions

Gifting a safari — the common questions

Can I gift a safari without the recipient knowing the exact dates?
Yes. Many of our gift safaris are presented before dates are confirmed. We can provide a 'safari experience gift voucher' as the present, and finalise dates together after the gift is opened. For milestone occasions, we recommend giving at least 3–6 months of lead time for visa applications and travel arrangements.
What if the recipient cannot travel on the proposed dates?
We are flexible. Once a booking is made, we can typically shift dates up to 60 days before departure without penalty (subject to accommodation availability). For confirmed safari vouchers, we hold credit for 24 months — enough time to find the right window.
Is it appropriate to give a safari as a surprise?
One of the most common questions we are asked. The answer: yes, if you know the person well enough to be confident they want to go to Africa. We have helped plan dozens of surprise safari gifts — including three marriage proposals in the Serengeti. We can handle all communications discreetly until the trip is confirmed, then manage the surprise reveal in whatever way suits you.
What does a Tanzania safari cost as a gift?
Our safaris start from $2,800 per person for a 5-day essential safari, up to $12,000+ per person for a 14-day extraordinary itinerary. For gifts, we always recommend designing to the experience level rather than the budget — a shorter trip at a higher quality is almost always better received than a longer trip at a lower quality.
Can I give a Kilimanjaro climb as a gift?
Yes — a Kilimanjaro climb is one of the most personal and significant gifts you can give someone. The combo of a climb and safari is particularly powerful: the mountain challenge followed by the wildlife reward creates a complete narrative arc to the trip. We offer climb + safari combos from $3,800 per person.
What if the recipient has limited mobility or specific health requirements?
Tanzania accommodates all mobility levels with the right itinerary design. Game drives are conducted from comfortable vehicles with stops at any frequency. Some camps and lodges are more accessible than others. We factor health and mobility into every proposal — this is not a limitation, it is a design parameter.
Is a Tanzania safari safe as a gift for someone travelling alone?
We run private safaris exclusively — your guide is with you every moment, from arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport to departure. For solo travellers, we pair you with other solo guests of similar age and interests where possible, or run a private vehicle at a supplement. Solo safari travellers consistently tell us it was the best travel decision they ever made.
How far in advance should I book a gift safari?
Three to six months before intended travel is ideal for most itineraries. This allows time for the proposal, confirmation, payment, and pre-departure preparation. For peak season travel (July–October), we recommend 6–12 months — the best camps and guides book up 12 months in advance. For last-minute gifts, we can often arrange a quality safari within 4–6 weeks; it depends on availability.

Ready to give something unforgettable?

Tell us about the person you are gifting for — their travel style, fitness level, and what kind of trip you have in mind. We will design the right safari.
