Two Legendary Experiences
The East African Dream Trip
Few trips combine two icons as powerfully as Tanzania and Rwanda. The Serengeti — endless plains, legendary wildlife, the Migration. Volcanoes National Park — misty mountains, ancient forest, and the mountain gorilla. Together, they represent the two most extraordinary wildlife experiences Africa offers.
This combination works logistically with surprising ease. The flight from Arusha to Kigali is under four hours, and Rwanda's gorilla permits are more accessible than Uganda's or the Democratic Republic of Congo's. The result is a trip that feels complete — the classic savannah safari, then the jungle trek to find our closest relatives in the forest.
Why Combine These Two
The Case for Tanzania + Rwanda
Two iconic experiences, one trip
The Serengeti delivers the classic African safari — lion, leopard, elephant, the Migration. Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park delivers the mountain gorilla. Together, they represent the two most sought-after wildlife experiences in East Africa.
Short connection, big impact
Kigali is a 3.5-hour flight from Arusha. The connection is straightforward, well-established, and adds minimal travel stress to a longer trip. The Rwanda leg can be as short as 3 days — one day for the gorilla trek, travel days on either side.
Contrasting landscapes, seamless flow
Tanzania's endless savannah plains give way to Rwanda's misty volcanic mountains. The contrast is striking and the transition feels natural. Many travellers describe the Rwanda portion as the emotional high point of their East Africa trip.
