A couple exchanging vows in the Serengeti at golden hour — the world's most extraordinary elopement setting

Say It in the Wild

Safari Elopement in Tanzania

The wedding you have always deserved — witnessed by no one but the world itself

An elopement in Tanzania is not a compromise — it is an upgrade. It means exchanging vows in the Serengeti at dawn, being married by a celebrant who understands what this moment means, having a wildlife photographer capture it in a setting no venue can match, and then spending your honeymoon in the most extraordinary wildlife environment on earth.

A couple exchanging vows in the Serengeti — the most extraordinary elopement setting on earth

The most honest wedding you will ever have

A wedding for two, witnessed by wildlife, in a landscape that makes every other setting feel ordinary — there is nowhere more honest than the Serengeti. No audience, no performance, no obligation. Just the two of you and the world as it has been for millions of years.

Wedding photography in the Serengeti — dramatic skies, endless plains, golden light

Photographs that no other location can match

A wildlife photographer who knows the bush, a golden hour that lasts 45 minutes, and a setting where every frame looks like it was shot for National Geographic. Safari elopement photography is in a category of its own — not because of the skill of the photographer alone, but because the backdrop is irreplaceable.

No compromise on the experience

The moment you choose to elope rather than host a large wedding, you gain complete control over the experience. The camp is the one you want, the guide is the one who knows where the leopards hide, the dinner is in the location you chose, and the whole trip is built around what matters to you — not what matters to a guest list.

Where to say your vows

Ceremony Locations

Serengeti Dawn Ceremony

Central or Northern Serengeti

Exchange vows as the sun breaks over the endless plain. The light at dawn in the Serengeti is unlike anything — the sky ignites, the wildlife stirs, and the whole world feels new. A dawn ceremony is cinematic, dramatic, and deeply personal. Most of our eloping couples choose this option.

Best for: Couples who want drama and scale

From $9,500 for two

Ngorongoro Crater Rim

Ngorongoro Crater, Conservation Area

The crater floor lies 600 metres below, a canvas of wildlife and forest. Standing on the rim with that view as your backdrop is one of the most dramatic ceremony settings on earth. The altitude and the scale create a sense of ceremony that no indoor venue can match.

Best for: Couples who want grandeur and perspective

From $10,500 for two

Remote Kopje Ceremony

Various Serengeti kopjes

A kopje is a granite rock outcrop rising from the Serengeti plain — a natural cathedral that has stood for millions of years. A ceremony at a kopje is private, intimate, and set apart from everything. Your guide will know the most beautiful ones, the ones other vehicles rarely visit.

Best for: Couples who want genuine seclusion and wild beauty

From $11,000 for two

Bush Dinner Celebration

Any camp location, set up specifically for you

Not ready for a formal ceremony? Start with a breathtaking private bush dinner set for two in a location your guide chooses — lanterns, candles, a personal chef, the African sky overhead. This can be the centrepiece of a safari proposal, a vow renewal, or a celebration without a formal ceremony.

Best for: Couples who want romance without formality

From $800 (in addition to safari cost)

Planning your elopement

How to Plan a Safari Elopement

The legal situation

For most international couples, a symbolic ceremony in the bush — while not legally binding in Tanzania — is the meaningful choice. We provide a full celebrant service, and many couples choose to legalise their marriage at home before or after the trip. We provide complete documentation guidance so you understand exactly what is required.

Photography and video

We work with wildlife photographers who have extensive experience shooting ceremonies and portraits in the bush. The combination of a professional photographer and the Serengeti landscape produces results that are genuinely extraordinary. Videography can also be arranged. We recommend budgeting for a full-day photography package for the most complete coverage.

Planning timeline

Three to four months ahead gives us the best chance of securing your preferred camp and photographer. Peak season (June–October) camps book early. Off-season (November–May) offers more availability and lower rates, though the landscape is greener and lusher. We can plan a Tanzania safari elopement in as little as six weeks for off-season dates — ask us.

What is included

Our safari elopement packages are individually designed. Generally included: private guiding, exclusive-use accommodation, all park fees, all meals, the ceremony arrangements (location scouting, celebrant, setup), a professional photographer, and all logistics from the moment you land in Tanzania. International flights are not included. We provide a detailed quote after understanding your vision.

Common questions

Safari Elopement — FAQ

Can we get married in Tanzania legally?
Legal marriage is possible in Tanzania but requires a 21-day residency period and bureaucratic process. Most international couples choose a symbolic ceremony in the bush, which is legally valid in intent if not in Tanzanian civil law. Many couples legalise their marriage at home before or after the trip. We provide full guidance on the options.
What if the weather is bad on our ceremony day?
We build flexibility into every elopement itinerary. If rain threatens, we have alternative locations and times. Tanzania's dry season (June–October) has very reliable weather. The green season (November–May) can bring afternoon thundershowers, but they are usually brief and dramatic — and the landscape is extraordinarily beautiful. We always have a weather contingency.
What should we wear for a safari elopement ceremony?
Many couples choose a simple, elegant white dress and a lightweight suit or formal safari wear — practical enough for the bush, beautiful enough for the photographs. We provide specific guidance on what works in the safari environment (neutral colours, breathable fabrics, low heels or flat shoes for the uneven ground). Some couples go barefoot in the grass — entirely possible in most ceremony locations.
Is it safe to have a ceremony near wildlife?
Your guide manages safety at all ceremony locations. We choose sites that offer beautiful settings at a respectful distance from any large wildlife concentrations. Your guide will be present throughout the ceremony, and we brief you on any specific safety considerations for the location. Wildlife in Tanzania's protected areas is habituated to vehicles — the presence of a guide and a couple is not unusual from the animals' perspective.
Can we extend the trip beyond the ceremony?
Absolutely — and most eloping couples do. A typical elopement itinerary includes a few days of safari after the ceremony, giving you time to properly experience the wildlife without the pressure of a schedule. Many couples add Zanzibar at the end — the contrast of bush and beach is extraordinary, and it gives you both time to decompress after the intensity of the ceremony.
