The step up to ultra-luxury adds space, exclusivity, and activities (night drives, walking safaris) that are simply not permitted in national parks. Those differences are meaningful.
But the single most important variable is your guide. A $3,200 safari with a 15-year veteran guide who knows where the leopards den will consistently outperform a $8,500 safari with a 6-month rookie. Adding Zanzibar to Your Luxury Safari
A Tanzania safari naturally pairs with Zanzibar — and not simply because of the dramatic contrast. The fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar is only 1 hour 20 minutes. Arriving at a Zanzibar beach resort after dusty game drives is one of travel's great tonal shifts, and it works precisely because the two experiences are so different.
We offer Zanzibar extensions as standalone add-ons to any package. A 4-night beach extension in a luxury Stone Town hotel or a beachfront villa typically adds $800–1,500 per person depending on accommodation. For travellers with 14+ days, we recommend the combination — it is one of the few multi-destination trips where both halves genuinely exceed expectations.

What is the actual difference between a $3,200 and $8,500 per person safari?
The accommodation tier and wildlife access. At $3,200, you are in excellent premium tented camps inside national parks — comfortable, authentic, with great guides. At $8,500, you add private conservancy access (night drives, walking safaris, off-road driving), larger and more exclusive camps, private vehicles, and sometimes a dedicated guide who stays with you throughout. The wildlife is the same; the freedom to experience it differently is what you are paying for.
Are these prices guaranteed? What if camp rates change?
We quote based on confirmed camp availability at time of booking. Camp rates in Tanzania operate on a seasonal basis — high season (July–October) and green/low season (March–May) can see 30–40% price differences. Once we confirm your booking, we hold the quoted rate. If a camp raises its rates after your booking, we absorb the difference. If a camp becomes unavailable, we offer equivalent alternatives at the same rate.
How many people travel in a safari vehicle?
Our standard maximum is 6 guests per Land Cruiser. For luxury and ultra-luxury packages, we recommend and default to a maximum of 4 guests per vehicle — giving everyone a window seat and more space. Private vehicles (your own Land Cruiser with no other guests) are available at an additional cost and are standard in the ultra-luxury tier.
Can I extend a luxury safari with Zanzibar?
Yes — and we recommend it for most travellers. Zanzibar is a 1–1.5 hour flight from the Serengeti and adds a dramatically different experience: Indian Ocean beaches, Stone Town, diving, and dhow sailing. What is the best season for a luxury Tanzania safari?
July to October for the Great Migration and peak wildlife viewing — but also peak pricing and more vehicles. June offers similar wildlife with fewer crowds and lower rates.
